Taking Root...

The story of how I got here…

I was born with creative genes. My grandpa was the dean of arts at a local college and I loved drawing from an early age. Throughout my high school and college days I took drawing, painting, ceramics, fashion, jewelry, art history and other creative courses, but quickly realized being an artist was not going to pay the bills (this coming from the logical type A part of me).

To avoid the starving artist future, I turned to my other love - helping people - and pursued an education in behavioral science with the intention of becoming a licensed MFT or LCSW, but found that a career in social work was too restrictive for what I wanted to do. I wanted something more holistic that addressed all areas of a persons life, so I started a masters program in Spiritual Formation to add a new element to my pursuit of well-being.

While attending graduate school I stumbled into a job working for a graphic designer and blogger who had started a small creative shop. What started out a a job to help pay for my education turned into a budding career path working with creative entrepreneurs.

I thrived off of learning the ins and outs of a small business, building systems and workflows that brought order, simplicity, and efficiency, training team members, writing manuals, organizing events, setting up displays, but mostly incorporating my psychology background in creating a thriving environment caring for the team and owner to find a more balanced life.

From there, I transitioned to another job working for a non-profit while finishing my program and getting married, but quickly found I missed the small business working with creatives and wanted to jump back into health and wellness after being a vegetarian for 9 years and dealing with some autoimmune issues.

I started working with a florists. I worked my way up from scrubbing buckets and processing flowers to managing client communications, building systems, and helping with business planning and strategy. I love the mix of creativity, personal connection, and order. I started hearing creatives ask where they can get someone like me to help with their business.

I assumed there were a lot of people out there like me, but was surprised to find there weren’t, which started the idea of creating a program to help more creative entrepreneurs find balance and well-being along the entrepreneur journey. So I enrolled in a health coaching and life coaching program to learn more holistic methods of helping people and have worked to develop a personalized coaching program to bring what I’ve learned over the past 10 years to more creatives like you.

If you would like to learn more or are interested in joining the program, head over to my contact page and send me a note or set up a free 15 minute consultation so I can learn more about you and your journey.
